Author/poet Jessica Weyer Bentley grew up in the hills of eastern Kentucky. Since losing her father when Jessica was 5 years old, words have soothed her soul. At age 9, she began penning those words in her head onto paper as poetry and prose.
Continuing to write through college, work, and raising two children, Jessica’s award-winning works have been featured in the newspaper and the Grief Diaries book series.
Paired with her daughter’s illustrations for the first time, Crimson Sunshine is an introduction to Jessica’s work that stem from a life of deep lows and accomplished highs as seen through the eyes of a young 5-year-old girl, survivor of astounding loss, and accomplished mother.
A mother of two, Jessica has a degree in medical administration and serves as a speaker for We Save Lives. She also speaks at victim impact panels and supports law enforcement at sobriety checkpoints. Jessica and her family reside in Hardin County, Ohio.
Jessica’s work has been anthologized in Women Speak Vol. 6 (Sheila-Na-Gig Editions) and Common Threads 2020 Edition (Ohio Poetry Association).
